McGimpsey condemns armed robbery of South Belfast Off-Licence
The Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for South Belfast, Michael McGimpsey, has condemned the armed robbery on Saturday evening of an off licence on the Lockview Road in the constituency. Three men entered the premises at 9.30pm armed with a handgun and forced staff to hand over cash and cigarettes.
In a statement Mr McGimpsey said, ‘I utterly condemn this robbery which must have been a terrifying experience for the staff involved. There is no place in our society for guns or the threat of violence. People must be allowed to go about their business without fear for their safety.’
Mr McGimpsey continued, ‘I would urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police immediately.’
