The Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for South Belfast, Michael McGimpsey MLA, has condemned those responsible for leaving a bomb outside the perimeter fence of Arellian Nursery school, near Sandy Row.
Currently Army technical officers are assessing the device.
In a statement Michael said;
“It is a disgrace that some individuals can be so reckless to endanger the lives of young children, who could have easily picked up the device. Regardless of the potential danger of the device, the disruption caused by to the local community is not acceptable. I pay tribute to the swift actions of the teachers and staff at the school and PSNI for sealing off the area swiftly.”
“The school children have now been evacuated to a local youth club however this device posed real danger for children and parents alike.”
“I would ask those individuals to consider the irresponsibility of their actions which no section of the community supports. I utterly condemn this incident.”
