McGimpsey comments ahead of planned protests

Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for South Belfast Michael McGimpsey has called for calm ahead of a series of planned protests this evening about the removal of the Union Flag from Belfast City Hall.

In a statement Mr McGimpsey said, “While I would like to reiterate my support of the fundamental right to protest, I would urge all those taking part in protests this weekend to ensure they remain peaceful and within the law at all times.”

In conclusion Mr McGimpsey said, “I am appealing to the organisers of protests to ensure they operate within the law and are sympathetic to other road users going about their business.”
