McGimpsey pleased with Minister for Regional Development Danny Kennedy’s optimism on the provision of residential parking schemes.

Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for South Belfast Michael McGimpsey welcomes the optimism expressed by the Minister for Regional Development Danny Kennedy for the provision of residential parking schemes in the near future.

In a statement Mr. McGimpsey said, “I am pleased with the optimism shown by the Minister for the provision of residential parking schemes for the inner-city area of South Belfast.”

“The long-running saga of the provision of residential parking schemes can no longer be left unaddressed. It has been 10 years since the issue was first brought forward when John Spellar was a direct rule Minister and conditions have continued to deteriorate, specifically at Stranmillis, the Markets, Sandy Row and Donegall Pass. The provision of such schemes is critical for these communities, where parking is absolutely dire.”

In conclusion, Mr. McGimpsey said, “I eagerly await news of the provision from the Minister and his department.”
